Ex-United States Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, has expressed surprise that Patience Jonathan has not been convicted by any court in Nigeria over the allegation of her loots.
He said that the former first lady despite being a civil servant lived a flamboyant and arrogant life while her husband was in office.
Campbell said this in his piece posted on Council on Foreign Relations’ website with the title, ‘Nigerian President Buhari’s Sisyphean Efforts’,
“However, it is curious how a person who spent most of her career in public service could accumulate an acknowledged $35 million in a poor country and She has yet to be convicted of a crime,” Campbell said.
Patience Jonathan is currently being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over various offences, most of which are bordered on money laundering and illegal accumulation of properties.
Many properties had been allegedly traced to her with many of it already seized by the government.
