IS 'CAGING' YOUR CHILDREN WHAT MAKES THEM PLAGUE FREE?- A TRUE LIFE STORY...

Hmmm, kudos to our parents as they strive to make sure that we get the best possible upbringing that prepares us for life. But do you think 'caging' or confining your children should be an option? Lets look at my story...
My parents are well educated, they are what yoruba will call 'Alakowe', so they believed so much in this idea of me and my 'family', therefore, i was brought up as a child that could simply be described as 'omo get inside'(a child that's totally restricted).
When i gained admission into the university, i found myself totally different from others because i could not relate well with them. It got to an extent that i would lock myself up inside my room because i preferred being in company of myself rather that that of others, i would not want to be hurt and i would not want to hurt anyone.
This took me one complete year before i finally decided to start to learn how to relate and associate with others no matter the problem that might emanate. This was very difficult for me though, as it afforded me a lot of pain.
You will be wondering, "what pain could that have caused".
Countless is the number of times that i was abused, embarrassed, insulted and slammed with words but would not be able to respond back or defend myself. This took me a lot of things, as it affected my confidence and self esteem, despite the fact that i was brilliant. Each time i was called in class to answer a question, i was always afraid because i would not want any further questioning on the on the answer that i would give,  or any critics whatsoever, i knew i might not be able to defend myself.
In a nutshell, i endured everything since i believed it was going to come to an end someday, but it lasted the whole of my university years before i started to learn how to respond back to insults, abuses, and even the softest and most polite of utterances, but all was still in a aggressive manner.
However, the commencement of my youth service marked the end of my aggressive response to thing and harsh approach to life situations. I met a lot of people from every nooks and crannies of the country, i learnt from everybody's reactions and responses to situations and scenarios, i started to build a new self esteem and got my confidence retrieved back...
What i learnt during my service year however goes beyond how to relate and gripping myself firm on the track, but i also realised that 'caging' one's children will do them more harm than good. A lot of girls started misbehaving when they got to NYSC orientation camp because they had always been caged at home and they actually wanted to 'feel among', they wanted to be in the company of 'somebody' or 'some people' and they eventually fell into wrong hands. I know of girl that came to camp as virgin but left camp disflowered, girls that had never shook hands with guys, but left as harlots, and even guys that were known to be saints at home left camp as habitual beer drinkers, girls known as decent, modest, 'long skirt wearer' finished NYSC as Sluts.

Should we still think that our children should be 'caged'? Its not about leaving your children to associate with just anybody, of course you must be mindful of the kind of peers your children keep and the kind of play they do, but at least let them mix with others.
All they need is your guidance, prayers and also teach them manners, morals and the way of God. Let them take piety as their watch word and make them understand that wherever they are or whatever they do Allah is always watching them, even in your absence, so they should fear Him in their undertakings.

Iranian guy beats Davido blue black in Atlanta

So Davido decided to do a little tour in Atlanta Georgia USA but somehow forgot that he had stepped out of Nigeria where his antics go unpunished. He made to pull one of his usual stunts there and got beaten like a helpless little thief.

Reports have it that the troublesome DMW boss visited a certain restaurant in Atlanta called Lagos Restaurant and Juice Bar to have a good meal alongside his crew. After his meal, he rose with his crew and moved towards the back door of the restaurant to smoke weed like he did some time ago in another foreign country and went scot free.

As he moved towards the back door, an Iranian attendant in the restaurant who lacks knowledge of who Davido is, stopped the singer and directed him to the front door, telling him that smoking is prohibited in the restaurant and can only be done outside the premises. As usual, David lashed out at the guy and they got physical. However, the guy won.

The video of the showdown has been kept from trending on social media. However, a couple of photos revealed Davido outside the restaurant with a torn shirt. Davido met his match this time around. Lol.

Buhari’ll win again in 2019, says Gov Bello

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has described President Muhammadu Buhari as a “global brand for anti-corruption,” saying the country had Buhari at the time she needed him most “to steady the ship of state against the turbulence of wanton corruption in the immediate past administration.”

President Buhari

Bello, who stated this in Lokoja through his Director General on Media and Publicity, assured the President’s supporters that another victory dance is already slated for 2019.

According to the governor, the 2019 President’s victory will be “more beautiful” as he continues to gain more support from some sections of the country who misconstrued the President as a “sectional leader.”

He added: “Today,  I can see the President winning the South-East and South-South in 2019, because they have now seen how detribalised the President could be.”

Governor Bello assured APC faithful that the party will remain “united and solid ahead of the 2019 elections,” urging leaders of the party to remain resolute in “institutio-nalising lasting change on the body polity.”

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC on November 23, 2017, arraigned a suspected Internet fraudster, Akpaikpe Etim, before Justice J.E. Oyefeso of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on an eight-count charge bordering on possession of fraudulent documents and obtaining money by false pretense.

30 years old Etim, who is said to be a member of a syndicate of fraudsters operating in the Lekki area of Lagos, among other alleged offences, obtained the sum of $4,000 from a victim in Singapore, after posting a dog for sale on an online platform. .

Investigation also revealed that the suspect, who does not have a stable job, had several inflows of money into his account, which he could not satisfactorily account for.

The suspect who owns 5 mansions in Lekki area of the state pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him. In view of his pleas, the prosecution counsel, Banjo James, asked for a trial date and prayed the court to remand the suspect in prison custody. In his response, counsel to the defence, O.V. Adoro, urged the court to grant his client bail.

However, the prosecution counsel opposed the bail application. Consequently, Justice Oyefeso ordered the suspect to be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons and adjourned the case to February 18, 2018 for hearing of bail application.

In his alleged confession to the Police, Moscow allegedly stated: “I am the leader of the gang in Ibadan for the past five years and had been jailed for armed robbery and I had wanted to stop robbery when I was released from prison in May this year, but because robbery is already in my blood, I continued to rob before I was arrested again, I promised to stop robbery if I am set free from this case.”

Adisa ordered that the other seven accused be remanded in prison custody pending DPP’s advice and ajourned the case till 12 January, 2018 for mention.

Woman buys Black Friday ‘bargain’ iPhone 6, opens box to find 11 potatoes

Quite frankly, it could have happened to anyone. You go out to church, see a dodgy truck selling iPhones, pick one up, take it home and realise you’ve been hoodwinked into buying a box of sliced potatoes.

That’s exactly what happened to one woman from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The unnamed victim uploaded a video of the ‘scam’ iPhone to YouTube where it’s since been viewed thousands of times.

She said: “I decided to go get some gas before church and saw a truck that was selling items on it, with a sign that said Black Friday sale, so I pulled over. They had everything in the truck that I can name, such as hair, watches, shoes, clothes, laptops, cell phones, socks, DVDs and CDs.”

(That’s right; the same truck selling iPhones and laptops also sold HAIR. Totally normal).

The woman went on: “I asked the guy about the iPhone 6 that he was selling and he said if I buy it today, he’ll give it to me for $100. I had the phone in my hand and I asked him to call it, the phone rang. Then, after I paid him he turned around as if he was putting the phone in the box, I didn’t know until I got home, to open my new phone box to find cut up potatoes.”

And - to rub salt into the wound (and maybe also on the potatoes) - the woman found an incompatible Android charger in the box.

“What the heck am I supposed to do with this!?” she screamed in the video.

Let’s hope she enjoyed her pricey spuds!

See below; the 20 best smartphones in the world

Heading into the holidays, there are so many good smartphones out there that I don't know how you're going to chose just one.

The gap between good and great smartphones is getting smaller and smaller, and ranking smartphones is becoming harder and harder.

There's a lot to consider here like specs, features, design, and price. Thankfully, most of these smartphones come with more than enough power, great designs, and are bursting with features.

The biggest thing to watch out for this month is price. Phones like the OnePlus 5T and Essential Phone cost as low as $500, and there isn't a huge difference compared to rival $800+ phones in this list. Indeed, big-name smartphone prices are going up, but the moderately priced premium Android phone is clearly making a comeback, and it's better than ever.

Check out the top 20 smartphones you can buy:

20. BlackBerry Classic

20. BlackBerry Classic  (BlackBerry)

If you're still a BlackBerry fan, you'll love the Classic. It looks similar to older BlackBerry models but features a sharp touchscreen and an excellent physical keyboard.

Price: $239

19. Sony XZ Premium

19. Sony XZ Premium  (Jeff Dunn/Business Insider)

Jeff Dunn, my former colleague, reviewed this phone for Business Insider, and he summed it up perfectly:

On the one hand, he wrote, "This is a good phone. The screen is great, the software is clean, and the whole thing is superfast."

But on the other, he added, "With its underwhelming battery and slippery, sometimes uncomfortable design, it's not the device that should reverse Sony's fortunes."

Previously priced at $800, the XZ Premium is now available for less than $600 on Amazon, which makes it easier to live with its shortcomings.

Price: $574

18. BlackBerry KeyOne

18. BlackBerry KeyOne  (Jeff Dunn/Business Insider)

The KeyOne is BlackBerry's successor to the Priv. Both run Android and feature physical keyboards. But while the Priv's keyboard slid out from behind its screen, the KeyOne's is permanently located just below its display.

The KeyOne is a great device for those who want a physical keyboard but also want access to Google's apps and services, which aren't available on other BlackBerry devices.

Price: $500

17. Motorola Moto G5 Plus

17. Motorola Moto G5 Plus  (Business Insider/Jeff Dunn)

The Moto G5 Plus continues to be our favorite budget-friendly Android smartphone. It demonstrates that "good-but-not-great hardware can become strong value at the right price," as Jeff put it in his review.

With the G5 Plus, you get a 5.2-inch 1080p screen, a fingerprint scanner, great battery life, a 12-megapixel camera that beats those of other phones in its price range, a nearly pristine version of Android, and a sleek design. All for a mere $230.

To be sure, it doesn't have as many features as premium phones. For example, its doesn't have an NFC antenna, so it can't be used for mobile payments. And to charge the G5 Plus, you'll have to use a microUSB cable; it doesn't support USB-C, the newer, faster phone charging standard.

Price: $230

16. Motorola Moto G5s Plus.

16. Motorola Moto G5s Plus.  (Motorola/Lenovo)

The Moto G5s Plus represents an upgrade over the original G5 Plus.

For example, the newer phone features an all-metal design. The previous one has a half-metal, half-plastic case. And the new phone has a bigger screen than its predecessor — a 5.5 inch display versus 5.2-inch one.

But one of the biggest improvements is in the camera. The G5s Plus has a 13-megapixel dual-lens camera system.

Price: $280

15. Motorola Moto Z2 Force

15. Motorola Moto Z2 Force  (Motorola/Lenovo)

The new Moto Z2 Force comes with everything you'd expect from a premium smartphone. As Jeff noted in his review, it’s "very fast, its screen looks good, its cameras are capable of taking nice photos, and it has a razor-thin frame." And its 5.5-inch AMOLED display is more resistant to cracking than most other smartphones screens out there.

However, the Z2 Force is a little too reliant on Motorola's "Mods." Those are the company's line of snap-on accessories, including external speakers and bigger batteries, that it designed for its Z-series phones. Without such Modes, the Z2 Force doesn't feel like a complete enough device to push it higher on this list.

Price: $720

14. Apple iPhone SE/6s/6s Plus

14. Apple iPhone SE/6s/6s Plus  (Apple)

I grouped all these together, because they're all two years old, have similar specs, and are still available from Apple. They're also still amazing smartphones. Apple recently released iOS 11, the latest version of its mobile operating system, and my iPhone 6s Plus still runs great with it.

The SE, 6s, and 6s Plus all feature great cameras and Apple's Touch ID fingerprint sensor, which allows you to quickly unlock your phone. Another bonus: These are the last iPhones that still have headphone jacks.

These phones are even better if you buy them refurbished at a deep discount from Apple.

13. HTC U11

13. HTC U11  (Jeff Dunn/Business Insider)

The U11 has an excellent camera, an eye-catching reflective back, and speedy performance. And it has a fun feature that allows you to squeeze its edges to open any app you want, including Google Assistant.

In most respects, it's a great Android smartphone. But it has two notable shortcomings — it lacks a headphone jack and the borders around its display are relatively large, something that now looks "old-fashioned" in terms of design.

Price: $650

12. LG G6

12. LG G6  (Antonio Villas-Boas/Business Insider)

The G6 is LG's best smartphone, and it's truly great. With it, LG is finally offering a phone with a premium design and water resistance — features that put the G6 in the same league as Samsung and Apple's flagship devices.

The G6 has a good dual-lens camera. It also has a slightly longer than average screen that's great for viewing and using apps, because it shows more of them than a standard display.

But the G6 has one notable downside — an older processor. Its Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chip was superseded by the Snapdragon 835 just two months after the G6 launched. Unlike the G6, Samsung's Galaxy S8, one of its chief rivals, has the newer chip.

While the Snapdragon 821 is still a great processor, its likely to become obsolete sooner than its successor, and the G6 is likely to start seeming slower sooner than the Galaxy S8.

Price: $545

11. Essential Phone

11. Essential Phone  (Antonio Villas-Boas/Business Insider)

The Essential Phone is a gorgeous device. It has a mostly edge-to-edge display and a case made of ultra-premium materials — ceramic on the back and titanium on the sides. It also runs a near-stock version of Android, which I prefer over the heavily modified versions that Samsung and LG phones tend to use.

Overall, the Phone is a great first effort from Essential. It's a speedy performer, and it takes great photos, too. It has two magnetic pins on its back that serve as a connection point for peripherals including a 360-degree camera and a wireless charging dock.

Essential recently dropped the price of the Phone from $700 to $500. That's a great deal for a great phone.

Price: $500

10. Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+

10. Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+  (Business Insider)

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are among the best looking smartphone out right now. It's better looking than Apple's iPhone 8, and it's sleeker than Samsung's Note 8.

With the S8 and S8+, Samsung took the curved glass design it used with the S7 and refined it. Meanwhile, the ultra-narrow borders around the S8's screen make it the new standard for premium smartphone design.

In addition to their good looks, the Galaxy S8 phones are also full of great features. They're water resistant. They have taller-than-average screens that allow you to see more of your apps or web pages. They supports both fast and wireless charging, and face and iris recognition. They have one of the best cameras, and unlike Apple Pay or Android Pay, Samsung Pay wireless payments service work on pretty much every credit card reader. The home button is also hidden beneath the display, so it's familiar to use compared to new phones that have ditched the home button entirely.

With all those attributes, you're likely wondering why the S8 phones didn't make the top of this list. Here's why: I'm not a fan of TouchWiz, Samsung's software interface that runs on top of Android. I prefer the clean look and features of stock Android.

But it's more than a simple personal preference. Modifications like TouchWiz almost always prevent the phones running them from installing the latest Android updates when they're released. And that's the case here.

The S8 phones do rely on TouchWiz for face and iris recognition capabilities. But those features don't make up for their likely inability to install timely Android updates.

9. Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

9. Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus  (Hollis Johnson/Business Insider)

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are now a year old, but at their new $550 and $670 price tags, they easily beats the Galaxy S8 phones.

Apple phones generally offer better apps and a better owner experience than their Android rivals, and the iPhone 7 is no different. The support you get from Apple if something goes wrong is much better than what you get from Android device makers. And unlike on most Android phones, with iPhones you can always get the latest software updates straight from Apple as soon as it releases them.

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus offer some compelling features, including a water-resistant case, a great camera that performs well in low light, and a powerful processor. It also works really well with other Apple products, including the company's wireless AirPods headphones.

The iPhone 7 Plus' dual-lens camera systems is the key feature. It allows you to take pictures with a professional-looking "bokeh" effect, which blurs the background behind the photo's subject. The second camera in its system is a telephoto lens that offers a 2x optical zoom. Unlike the digital zoom feature found in other cameras, an optical zoom allows you to enlarge an image of your subject without sacrificing picture quality.

Price: $550

Price: $670

8. Razer Phone

8. Razer Phone  (Razer/Amazon)

The Razer Phone is marketed as a "gaming" phone, mostly because of its unique display that plays games incredibly smoothly. Indeed, the Razer Phone's display can achieve up to 120 frames per second (fps), whereas most phones only go up to 60 fps. Having twice the fps makes for super-smooth gameplay.

But high fps isn't just for gamers. The Android operating system running on the Razer Phone, as well as apps, gets the high fps treatment, too, and it works beautifully. Everything you do on the phone is ultra-smooth in a way that we've never seen before on a smartphone. In fact, Razer may have inadvertently set a new standard for how all phone displays should work moving forward, not just gaming phones.

It also has an eye-catching industrial design compared to most sleek and svelte Android phones. The large bezels above and below the Razer Phone's display may not appeal to everyone, especially since most phones in 2017 have switched over to bezel-less designs. However, hiding beneath those massive bezels are the loudest and best smartphone speakers we've heard on any smartphone.

Price: $700

7. Samsung Galaxy Note 8

7. Samsung Galaxy Note 8  (Sarah Jacobs/Business Insider)

With its gorgeous design, the ultra-thin borders around its screen, its beautiful display, fast performance, dual-lens camera system, and fancy stylus-based features, the Note 8 takes the best attributes of Samsung's Galaxy S and Note smartphone lines and smashes them together into a phone that's hard to beat.

Price: $920

6. OnePlus 5T

6. OnePlus 5T  (Antonio Villas-Boas/Business Insider)

If you're not looking to spend $850 or more on a large-screened phone, the OnePlus 5T is the Android phone to get. It's truly a fantastic phone that's only made better by its incredible $500 starting price.

It also comes with more RAM than any other smartphone we've tried, which guarantees top performance. On top of that, its camera is great and comes with a portrait mode that competes with the iPhone X and Pixel 2 phones. And, my personal favorite feature, it runs a near-stock version of Android.

Price: $500

5. Google Pixel 2

5. Google Pixel 2  (Google)

The Pixel 2 might not be the most beautiful Android phone you can buy, but its secret weapon is its pure Android experience.

The device runs the latest version of the operating system. Because it's unadulterated, that version looks and runs better than any of the tweaked takes on Android other phone makers include with their devices.

Better yet, because the Pixel 2's Android is unmodified, you'll be able to install the latest updates to the operating system as soon as Google rolls them out. That's not something you can usually do with other Android phones. It's something I feel is important because who doesn't want the latest software from the top software company in the world?

But the Pixel 2 has other features that help put it ahead of other Android devices, including its amazingly good camera, excellent performance, and great battery life. It's like a less attractive but smarter Samsung Galaxy phone.

The Pixel 2 is also water resistant, unlike its predecessor, the original Pixel. But while we rated that device higher than last year's iPhone 7, the new device doesn't out rate the new iPhone 8. While the iPhone 8 supports wireless charging and ships with a set of headphones, the Pixel 2 offers neither.

Price: $650

4. Google Pixel 2 XL

4. Google Pixel 2 XL  (Google)

The Pixel 2 XL has nearly the same components and features that make the Pixel 2 great, but it comes in a bigger package with a larger display and an updated, fresher-looking design. The Pixel 2 XL isn't the best looking Android phone, but with the narrow borders around its screen, it looks sleeker and more refined than its smaller sibling or its predecessors from last year.

And the unadulterated Android experience it offers is unbeatable.

You should note, though, that users and reviewers have reported encounteringseveral different problems with the Pixel 2 XL, mostly with its screen. I haven't experienced any of the reported problems while testing my review unit, so I'm not factoring them into the phone's ranking.

Users were also complaining that colors on the Pixel 2 XL's display weren't as vibrant as other top Android phones. Google has recently issued an update that makes colors more vibrant.

Price: $850

3. Apple iPhone 8

3. Apple iPhone 8  (Hollis Johnson/Business Insider)

Google's original Pixel phones topped last year's iPhone 7. But now that the iPhones are here, Apple is back on top.

The iPhone 8 comes with a refined glass and metal case, a superb camera, and incredible performance. With it, Apple is finally supporting both wireless and fast charging — features that Android phones have long offered but had been missing from previous iPhones.

What pushes the iPhone 8 ahead of the Android pack is its iOS operating system and the broader Apple ecosystem. You can get the latest updates straight from Apple as soon as they're released, iOS apps are generally better designed than their Android counterparts, and if something goes wrong with your phone, you can get help at one of the hundreds of Apple stores.

Price: $700

2. Apple iPhone 8 Plus

2. Apple iPhone 8 Plus  (Hollis Johnson/Business Insider)

The iPhone 8 Plus includes all the best things about the iPhone 8. But it adds to those a bigger, better screen and a dual-lens camera system that features a telephoto lens and the ability to take shots similar to those you could capture with a professional camera.

Price: $800

1. iPhone X

1. iPhone X  (Hollis Johnson/Business Insider)

It's undeniable. The iPhone X offers the best of the iPhone and Apple ecosystem along with the best design in a smartphone we've ever seen.

With its outrageously beautiful OLED display that takes up most of the front of the phone, wireless charging, and fast charging, the iPhone X has brought Apple's iPhones up to speed with top-of-the-line Android hardware. Indeed, Android owners always enjoyed the latest smartphone hardware features until now.

It'll cost you $1,000 minimum, but that's the price of near perfection in a smartphone.

How can I make a living by starting an online business?

18 AM

The first issue is one of timing—if you’re broke and without a job, I can’t recommend starting a business. Go find a Day Job first. I always tell entrepreneurs not to quit their Day Jobs.

The reason is simple—you don’t need to quit your Day Job because starting a business is not a full-time job contrary to what Venture Capitalists and others would have you believe.

The short answer for why that’s true is that you need to find your audience first and get to understand them. The process for doing that does not require full-time.

I give the full details on not quitting your Day Job and how it will actually increase your odds of success considerably in this article:

Now if you’re intrigued by the idea of not quitting your Day Job, my next suggestion may also surprise you:

Don’t take any investors.

Yes, even though I participated in 6 venture capital startups and have spent most of my career in that world, I strongly recommend against it.

The reason why is simple—it dramatically lowers your likelihood of success.

That’s got to be a real shocker too!

Doesn’t taking millions of investment dollars radically increase your likelihood of success?!??

Sadly, the answer is a definite, “No!”

The reason is that the VC’s need billion dollar unicorn successes to make their investment fund economics work. Those are extremely risky businesses. There are lots of businesses you or I would consider wildly successful that the VC’s would view as abject failures.

And they will do everything in their considerable power to put you on the Unicorn-or-Bust treadmill. I had a group of VC’s one time tell me and my partner to walk away from an offer to buy our 10 month old startup for $45 million. It was a 13 to 1 return on their investment and seriously life changing money for my cofounder and I but they threatened us with never working in Silicon Valley again if we pursued the deal.

Trust me—if you just want a wonderful and lucrative online business, skip the venture capital. If you need your own jet, yacht, and zillions of dollars, you probably need venture capital to pull that off.

More on that whole topic as well as the real odds of succeeding by starting a business here:

OK, two controversial recommendations down. Are you doubting my sanity yet? Just remember, I’ve enjoyed a lot of success across a lot of startup businesses.

If there’s one constant it’s that the road to success is never very obvious. If you’re doing exactly what everyone else is doing, you’re following the average. You’re likely to get an average result. I don’t know about you, but I want an above average result!

So my last controversial recommendation is to forget about products. Just put them right out of your mind. I know your instinct is to focus on products first.

“What can I sell that people will love to start my online business?”

Folks, that’s totally the wrong way to look at it. Turn the telescope around and look through it backwards. The reason is simple:

Business seldom fail for lack of products. They often fail for lack of customers.

Right now you’re assuming all you need is a great product, a product that customers love, and you will never have a problem with lack of customers.

Nope. Sorry. Not true.

I have to repeat an old chestnut which is that the world will not beat a path to your door just because you have a great product. You see, they don’t know about your great product. Just having that great product doesn’t tell them about it either.

Yes, Virginia, you have to learn the art of marketing. It pains me to say this, because I’m an Engineer and a Product Guy, but Products are not the most important thing by a long shot.

This is why you’ll read all over Quora that ideas aren’t worth much. Products are worth a little more, but still surprisingly little.

My first startup was acquired by Borland way back when for very little cash in the scheme of things. I made good money in the transaction, but it was a pittance when we saw what happened just a year later.

We updated that product, changed its name, and launched it as Borland’s Quattro Pro. It was some insanely good (if I do say so myself!) spreadsheet software, and we sold over $100 million worth of it that first year.

The company was acquired for less than 1/10th of that. Why? Because it mostly just had a product. The product was only worth about 10% if you think of it in those terms. 90% of the value was the customers, and Borland had those in spades. It made 10x its investment in 24 months as a result, and we went on to make a lot more than that over the product’s life.

So, your first task is to find your Audience, get to know them, and prove you can build your own Tribe from that Audience. That means getting them to join your mailing list because they like and respect what you have to say and don’t want to miss out on it when you have more to say.

Much more detail here:

Now that’s as far as I can take you in this brief Quora post, but it really is the bones of what you’ll need to get your online business started. It doesn’t begin with product. It doesn’t need an investment or even for you to quit your Day Job.

It starts with you thinking about your interests, discovering where audiences with similar interests hang out, going there, and starting to build your own Tribe.

That Tribe will ultimately tell you everything you need to know to succeed. Your job is to build it up to critical mass and to develop a good ear that can hear their voices.

It’s time to increase minimum wage, says Buhari

‘NLC’ll approach negotiation with open mind’

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)  plans to approach the negotiation of the new national minimum wage with an open mind, NLC President Ayuba Wabba has said.

He dismissed insinuations that it was uncharitable for all states to be tied to same minimum wage despite the economic viability of states.

He said what the workers were demanding is a minimum wage to be paid across board to all workers respective of whether they work in the government or the private sector. The minimum wage, he stressed, is different from wage increase.

Wabba said the minimum wage should be the least salary a worker should earn. The states, he said, will be free to determine what they can pay, using the minimum wage as a benchmark.

He said: “Everybody knows that it is a process which everybody should be committed to. This is not the first time that we have followed up the process and so, our members know the process and we are committed to the process.

“I cannot speak on the timeline now until we hold the first meeting. The President has actually has said he wants the  process completed within a very short time and when we hold the inaugural meeting, we will be able to come up with a time line.”

On states saying all states should not have equal minimum wage, Wabba said: “Minimum wage is different from wage increase. We are talking about the minimum that should be obtainable and this is not about government alone. It also involves the private sector. It is about law. Convention 131 and 96 of the ILO convention says that there should be a minimum. So, what we are reviewing is the minimum. That confusion is arising as a result of the mischief by some of them.”

Wabba said the congress expected the committee to consider the plight of workers and pensioners in view of the purchasing power of Nigerians.

Wabba said: “We hope that after the inauguration the committee will commence work immediately so that we can cover some mileage and also cover the time that has been lost because this is something that workers have long anticipated. We look forward to a speedy process because the issues are quite obvious.

“If you look at the exchange rate, you discover that we virtually import most of the things we use and if you look at the exchange rate when the N18,000 minimum wage was negotiated and an agreement signed in 2011, you’ll discover that it was almost equivalent of N110 to a dollar.

“Today, N18,000 is less than 46 dollars and the reality of the situation is that the purchasing power of the ordinary Nigerian worker has dropped drastically. Our expectation is that the tripartite committee should look at the conditions of the Nigerian worker and pensioners and arrive at something concrete for them.

“Let me tell you that there are places where pensioners are receiving less than N4000 and that calls for urgent consideration so that the whole issue of social imbalance and the issue of inequality  and the widening gap of poverty can be addressed because you also know that there is lack of employment. Therefore, workers have a lot of burden, taking care of their dependents.

National Union of Textiles, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria General Secretary Isa Aremu praised the President for inaugurating the committee, which he said was long overdue. “It is better late than never”.

Aremu said he was particularly impressed with the directive of the President to state governors to pay outstanding salaries before the end of the year, pointing out that the President’s address to the committee is a clear indication that he is a Labour-friendly president.

2019: What I will do if Buhari refuses to go for second term – Ahmed Yerima

A former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima has declared that he would contest the 2019 Presidential election if President Muhammadu Buhari declines to seek a re-election.

He said he would also be glad if Nigerians endorsed his ambition.

He told newsmen on Sunday in Abuja that his announcement does not fallout of his avowed commitment to support President Buhari if he decides to re-contest the 2019 election.

Yerima representing Zamfara West in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and who seconded the motion by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party for the President to run for the 2019 election, said he would not contest against him.

According to him, nobody will condemn him, if he decides to contest for the presidency because he has got the right endorsement he needed to contest for the position and that he was in politics to serve the interest of the masses and not for sheer glory or showoff.

“I am in politics not for personal aggrandizement but for the sheer glory. I am in politics to serve. And I have not failed to do that,” Yerima said.

On the outcome of the APC, NEC meeting, he said, “Yes I seconded the motion: I will support the President if he decides to run in 2019. I will not contest against him, but if he does not contest and I decide to come out, nobody will condemn me. That’s my personal decision.”

Fulani herdsmen cry to Buhari over ban on open grazing in Benue

The Cattle Breeders in Nasarawa State have called on the Federal Government to urgently intervene and prevent a looming crisis following the open grazing ban by the Benue State government.

The Nasarawa state chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) said the enforcement of the open grazing prohibition law by the Benue state government will affect the migration of Fulani herdsmen into communities sharing borders with Benue and may lead to crisis.

According to the Chairman of the association, Muhammad Hussaini, “We are sensitising our Fulani people how to live in peace and not disturb people’s crops. We advise our leaders of the Miyetti Allah in most of the local government areas to see that the crops for farmers are not destroyed.”

“With the implementation of the grazing law, we are appealing to the Federal Government to look into this law so that Benue State should revisit that law. We want peace, we don’t want this international cattle road to be blocked, that is our worry.

“Some herdsmen are coming from the northern part of Nigeria and passing to Enugu, Abakaliki, Cross Rivers, Anambra and they will pass through Benue and if the international cattle road is blocked, we will have a problem,” he said.

What Deontay Wilder did to his opponent that shows Anthony Joshua might be in big trouble

The bout between the two would be the best boxing encounter in 2018.

Wilder said he is the king of heavyweight boxing.

Deontay Wilder’s round one knockdown of Bermane Stivernne in their WBC heavyweight world title bout shows Anthony Joshua might be meeting his match in the proposed heavyweight title unification bout for 2018.

Deontay had promised he would be knocking out his opponent in the first round and did just that few seconds to the bell goes off for the round.

The WBC titleholder also noted that fighting Joshua is the only thing next on his wish list. This is a fight sports analysts, sports promoters and boxing lovers have hinted would be bigger than Floyd Mayweather’s fight with Manny Pacquiao.

"I am too athletic, I am mobile, I am hostile, I have the heart of a lion. I am the king, baby,"Deontay told Sky Sports.

"No heavyweight can compare to me, I move like a middleweight, man. The things I can do in the ring is crazy, the way I set these guys up... I'm very confident in what I do."

"A king doesn't chase the peasants, king chase kings! I want Joshua! The world wants Joshua. The world wants Wilder. I want Joshua! Joshua, come and see me, baby!

WBA (Super), IBF, and IBO heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua has also accepted to square up with Deontay and says he will "eat" Deontay Wilder if the two giants face each other in the ring.

However, Wilder promised the show would settle the issue of who is the best, as he is willing to bout anywhere.

"No more hiding, no more ducking, no more dodging, no more excuses, let`s make the fight happen!" Let`s see who is the best, I know I'm the best, are you up for the test?,"Deontay said.

On the bout between the two fighters, Mr Eddie Hearn - an English boxing promoter, said many promoters have expressed interest in putting up the belts. And also, Joshua is more than ready to have all the four heavyweight belts on his shelf.

"Of course Joshua has told me we want all the belts and that means taking on all the champions...."

"I had a text from his promoter tonight, asking if we fancy making that fight next. Everybody wants to fight Anthony Joshua and you will see him fight everybody."

Remember Brazilian Star Player Adriano? Well He Has Squandered All His Money And Is Now A Drug Dealer (Photos)

If things had gone to plan, Adriano should be getting ready to lead Brazil out at his hometown Olympics.

He would be back at Flamengo after 15 years in Europe’s elite and would be considered a legend like Ronaldinho.

Well guess what? Things haven’t gone to plan.

These days, Adriano lives in the slums of Rio and has to pay a local gang protection money to keep him safe.

The striker, 34, left Miami United in May and has since returned to the city of his birth.

And his current predicament is a far cry from his life in Italy, where he scored 44 goals in 103 games for Inter and earned £80,000 a week.

According to reports in Brazil, he pays protection money to the Red Command gang in the in Vila Cruzeiro slum, one of Rio’s most dangerous favelas.

Flavia Bueno, of the Cambridge University’s Brazilian Society, told The Star: “Rio can be brutal.

“It is a very expensive city, and so it is not surprising that he has returned to live in the favela.

“Around 24 kids die there everyday. There are drugs, guns and gangs.”

The Red Command have killed thousands using their trademark AK47s in the battle to control Rio’s drug trade.

Adriano himself was pictured holding the gun and posing with the Red Command’s signature hand gestures.

He was also once arrested on charges relating to drug trafficking and a woman was shot in his car after he had been out clubbing in Rio.

How has it come to this for Adriano – the superstar with a 99 power rating in Pro Evo?

Well he reportedly spent £18,000 a night on prostitutes, for starters.

But if you don’t feel a tinge of sadness at the predicament of one of football’s cult heroes then we’ve got some bad news.

Speaking to R7 of the incident, he revealed: “Only I know how much I suffered.

“The death of my father left a huge hole. I felt alone and I isolated myself when he died. I was sad and depressed in Italy, and that was when I started to drink.”

He departed Inter in 2009 after helping them to four consecutive Scudetto titles to rejoin Flamengo, but he never truly fulfilled his potential.

Adriano had the world at his feet during the mid-2000s, but sadly his potential was wasted due to off-the-field issues.

See more photos below:-

Former Brazilian striker Adriano, once regarded as one of the world’s best strikers, is reportedly living among gun-wielding gangs in Rio.

According to Brazilian lawyers, Adriano depends on the Red Command, a deadly gang part of the long-running gang war in Rio, for protection in order to live in the slum.

The Brazilian had a decorated career, making over 100 appearances for Inter Milan, and winning 4 Serie-A titles in that period.

The striker also represented Parma and Roma in Italy as well as several clubs in his home country, Brazil. Adriano also made 48 appearances for his country.

The Copa America winner, nicknamed “The Emperor”, scored 27 goals for Brazil, twice being awarded the Golden Boot.

Once earning a whopping 80000 pounds a week, the ex-Brazil star’s focus seems to be on other forms of shooting at the moment.

He has been photographed with gang members, and holding firearms with Red Command members. He has also reportedly bought the mob a motorbike in a deal to keep his family safe.

This is the latest in a series of events that have left the striker’s career in disarray. Back in 2012, during his time at Fluminese Football Club, Adriano had ditched a training session to go partying in the Vila Cruzeiro Favela instead.

This prompted ex-Corinthians player, Neto, to say “only a madman would sign him now”.

The ex-Inter striker was also involved in another incident where a woman was shot in his car after he had gone clubbing in Rio.

He has also been arrested previously on charges relating to drug trafficking

Currently, Adriano has ballooned up and is without a club after cancelling his contract with fourth-tier side Miami United.

It looks like the end is near for one of Brazil’s great football talents.

Hmmm.....

Soldier writes Buhari, says ‘corruption in Army real, troops suffering’ – [Full letter]

An officer of the Nigerian Army has written a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari to complain about alleged corruption and sorry state of troops.

The officer, also part of the war against Boko Haram, wrote the letter in reaction to the army’s dismissal of the complaints of Abdulrauf Aliyu, a private of the Nigerian army.

Aliyu had complained that he was abandoned after being shot by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

However, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, spokesman of the army, denied the allegation, saying Aliyu was declared a deserter for leaving the hospital he was receiving treatment without being cleared by the authorities.

“This is a clear case of a deserter from the Nigerian army trying to run a campaign of calumny against the Nigerian army on Social Media,” The Cable quoted him as saying.

But the soldier who wrote the letter spoke in defence of Aliyu and also drew attention to the plight of his colleagues.

Full text of letter below…

“Having read the online correspondence between Dr. Idris Ahmed of CUPS and our Army spokesman, Brigadier General S.K. Usman, I have decided to take a major risk and write to your Excellency directly over this issue.

Sir, I am a course-mate of Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu, who Oga S.K. claimed that he has gone AWOL. We trained at the same company, Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna State. We are presently posted to Operation LAFIYA DOLE. On behalf of all the colleagues of Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu, I categorically refute the allegation that Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu deserted the Army.

The Sections 59 – 63 of the Armed Forces Act, Cap A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as quoted by Oga S.K., has always been mentioned by our superiors, to protect themselves and antagonise us, whenever they have done mischief.

Your Excellency, the case of Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu is actually not an isolated one. There are many such cases of soldiers who got wounded on the battlefront. It is true, some are well looked after, as mentioned by Oga S.K. Usman in his press release.

Unfortunately, due to corruption in the system, some unfortunate soldiers, mostly from less privileged backgrounds, are left to fend for themselves. Like myself, Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu comes from a humble family. He sustained life-threatening injuries in the abdomen during a routine operation. The initial first aid treatment and medical care that he received was very inadequate.

With full Army permission, Pvt Abdulrauf Aliyu and his family paid for his transfer to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. Unfortunately, the care he received in Maiduguri Teaching Hospital too was inadequate. Eventually, his family had to pay for his transfer to a specialist facility in Sokoto.

Your Excellency, corruption in the Army is REAL, and it is killing us. Every man and woman who decided to join the Army knows the risks. While we expect to die in the hands of the enemy, we don’t expect to die in the hands of the Nigerian Army, due to corruption and criminal negligence.

Just the other week, about 14 (I am not sure of the exact numbers) of our colleagues died in the hands of Boko Haram, who attacked the Army camp. The circumstances surrounding their unnecessary death warrants a full investigation by his Excellency. Sir, you will be shocked of the outcome.

The bodies of the slain heroes are still lying here in Damaturu, Yobe State. The story of this incidence has hardly been officially published by the Army or Nigerian media. Attached is the picture of the commander of the camp. He too died in the attack.

Your Excellency, this is the third month in a row that we have been denied of our operations allowance. We have to rely ONLY on our meagre salary for everything. From battalion commanders, to Company and Sectors leaders, we are all in debt, because our salaries are not enough to sustain us at the battlefront while feeding our families back at home.

It is a big shame that we have joined the Army to defend the civilians, yet we have to go to the civilians in town to borrow money to fend for ourselves at the battlefront. Take for instance the food that we are fed. Most of the times it is not fit for human consumption.

I attach for your perusal, your Excellency, the lunch that was fed to us this afternoon (3/11/2017). As you can clearly see, there is not a single piece of meat or fish in it. The taste of the food is so bad that we have to add surplus salt to be able to eat it. This is also dangerous for our health. A plate of our food per soldier is probably about two hundred Naira (N200).

It is said that the Federal Government spends about fourteen thousand Naira (N14,000) on each prisoner in Nigeria. Here, at the battlefront in Operation LAFIYA DOLE, the Army spends about six hundred Naira (N600) per day per soldier on feeding us, while in reality billions of Naira is appropriated per year for this purpose.

Your Excellency, we are treated like animals. Most of us are afraid to talk because of the dire consequence. As the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, your Excellency, kindly investigate. There is corruption in the Army. Brave soldiers are needlessly dying.”

La Liga: Zidane reveals what Real Madrid will do about Ronaldo, Benzima’s goal drought

Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane has reacted to the goal drought affecting star players, Karim Benzima and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Spanish topflight this reason.

The Frenchman said the club will be calm about the situation.

Ronaldo and Benzema have not scored a La Liga goal since mid-October, but Real Madrid head coach said he is not losing sleep over the development.

Ronaldo has scored only one La Liga goal after 11 rounds of matches.

His frustration continued after he could not find back of the net against Las Palmas on Sunday, ending the match with only an assist.

Reacting to the situation, Zidane told reporters, “You asking me about Karim Benzima and Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s true when you look at La Liga. I don’t know how many goals they’ve scored.

“They are first to be unhappy about it. But nothing happens. The most important thing is their work. What they do, the chances they have created today for Marco Asensio, Isco and Casemero to score.

“Karim and Cristiano will score soon. We are going to remain calm about it.”
