Car Gift: Aisha Buhari Reacts To Senator Misau's Allegation

Maina Finally Exposes Those After His Life and Reason

Maina has revealed some pension scammers who have skeletons in their cupboards are after his life thereby causing him to go underground.

Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina

The former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina, has explained that he went into hiding to save his life from pension thieves who vowed to silence him for asking the former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to stop multi-billion naira monthly allocations being shared by the thieves under the guise of paying pensioners.

Maina, who spoke to Berekete Family, an Abuja-based Radio Show anchored by Ahmed Isa, which could not be authenticated, said he was ready to come out from hiding to spill the beans with relevant documents if President Muhammadu Buhari would provide him adequate security.

The former pension boss recalled that his car was shot at three times and the windows shattered when he was returning from a meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan and Okonjo-Iweala where they discussed about the money recovered by his task force.

According to him, what saved him from the attack was that Jonathan had earlier directed that he should be given a bulletproof car after he had complained to him about strange text messages, which threatened his life.

Maina denied stealing pension money, saying that his task force did not have or operate any account and challenged anyone with proof that he was given any government money to present the proof to Nigerians.

“To start with, I did not take anybody’s one kobo and nobody has ever given me one kobo in Nigeria. Nobody has ever given me budget; nobody has ever given our office N10. The Office of the Head of Service (HoS) has always been in charge of our task force. Our task force include: 15 officers from the EFCC; 15 officers from the ICPC; four officers from DSS; two officers from NIA; 15 officers from the office of HoS; three officers from the Accountant General’s Office; three officers from the Auditor General’s office; two officers from the office of the Attorney General and Public Complaint Commission and some representatives of the National Association of the Nigerian Pensioners. I was only the head. Anything that happened in that task force must be endorsed by all these agencies before it is brought to me to endorse. So, why is it that people are calling Maina, Maina and not calling the task force? The reason is that I refused to bend backwards,” Maina explained.

Maina challenged anyone – whether the budget office or the ministry of finance that has ever given him money to show the proof to Nigerians.

He said instead of appropriating government’s money, his task force recovered N282 billion, which Okonjo-Iweala lodged at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), when the present Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi was the governor.

“This money, I have never seen in cash; I only see in paper. So, how did I come across the money? If there is anybody with proof of how government gave me money or how money entered into my account, let the person show the proof. People are talking on the newspapers. All this is because of the following: My team was asked to go and restructure the Police Pension Office. We went to the Police Pension Office and we found out that they were taking N300 million every morning. I reported to the Minister of Finance and asked her if she approved N24 billion for payment of police pension arrears and she said ‘yes.’. I told her that the money was not being used to pay police pension arrears and that N300 million was removed every morning and these are the people that were removing the money. The matter was referred to the EFCC and ICPC,” Maina said.

“The second thing was that they were allocating N1.5 billion every month for police pension. We found out that the actual amount was N488 million. That means that they have been stealing N1 billion every month for so long. Definitely, I will have enemies. We had to ask the Minister of Finance to stop these payments,” he added.

Maina also stated that his team carried out biometric exercise, stressing that the exercise was approved by the Head of Service and not him.

According to him, all the agencies represented in the task force participated in the exercise.

“The task force never had or operated any account. It is the people who stole money and that are being prosecuted are the ones that paid money to the media to rubbish my name. They are rubbishing my name because they are afraid that if Maina is around, Maina is going to reveal a lot of things. We blocked leakages in government and saved billions of naira for the government. We created e-payment and gave pensioners smart cards. That way, a pensioner will go and verify himself at his own time instead of lining up every month and dying in the process. We found out that the payroll of the Head of Service was N5.12 billion but the actual was N825 million. So, why should Maina go and tell the Minister of Finance to stop sending N5.12 billion? That was my crime because this money was being shared all over,” Maina explained.

He also recalled that his car was riddled with bullets when he was returning from a meeting with former President Jonathan and Okonjo-Iweala where the money recovered by his team was discussed.

“I had complained to the president and they gave me bullet –proof car. The car is still in the villa. When I complained to the police, the reply by the police was signed by the present Inspector General of Police. I had to go under because of the threats to my life. So, I went to court,” he added.

When asked if he would come out of hiding and spill the beans if President Buhari provides the necessary security for him, Maina said: “I am ready and half of those people will run away and leave Nigeria.

“I tell you this and that is why I am being persecuted. The former President is alive; the former Minister of Finance is alive. Let them go and find out about the money Maina recovered. How can they say there is no money to pay pensioners? It was during my time that we went and got approval for 53 per cent increase in pension. With the money we recovered, they were able to pay the 53 per cent increase. We recovered N282 billion. How many pensioners do we have in Nigeria? Secondly, because of the information I gave to the security agencies, they recovered N1.6 trllion from the security agencies,” he said.

Speaking on why he shunned invitation by the Senate, Maina stated that he had earlier honoured the lawmakers’ invitation but was shocked by the treatment given to the pension thieves by the Senators.

“The pension thieves were being given tea in the Senate Chambers while I and Lawode were inside the dock. So, the thieves were with the Senators,” he added

The Shocking Story of Ifechukwu, a 16-year-old Girl Who Slept With 52 Men in One Night

A 16-year-old teenage girl has been arrested along with 52 men after they were caught having intercourse with her consent in turns.

According to the police, it looked like an initiation ceremony for members of Supreme Vikings Confraternity.

Ifeechukwu is a secondary school drop-out. During interrogation, she revealed that she travelled from Abuja to Lagos just to witness the ceremony and was given a sedative as not to feel the pain while the men took turns on her.

“I joined them three months ago and during my initiation, I was forced to have sex with every registered member of the cult present that night. I was given a sedative so as not to feel what they were doing. It was not easy, but I bore the pain,”

“I got to know about the cult activity through a friend. She assured me that all the connection that I needed in this life will be made if I joined the group. I am from a poor family and I wanted to be the light that will change the situation in my family.

“She never told me that I will be raped till the day of initiation. The day we were initiated, I was the only girl in their midst. Although, I have not started reaping the gains, I was determined to be a successful member.

“I was further convinced to stay because I discovered that they are more honourable than the others. I am sorry and would love to be given the opportunity to go back to school.

“I never knew that it is crime to be a member. I am sorry,” Ifechukwu pleaded.

Another member of the group, Ugochukwu Agbazuo, revealed that they are all undergraduates of various institutions in Anambra.

“Apart from some of our national leaders, we are all students. I was initiated into the cult while I was still in my first year. I had no choice but to join them because of the harassment in school. I discovered that most of the Engineering students in my school were members of different cult groups.

“Again, if you identify with a known cult in school, the lecturers will respect you. You don’t have to buy handouts or offer bribe to get credit in a course. This was why I joined them,” he said.

He insisted that they did not steal or harass innocent people.

“The guns that were found with us were bought in case there was a clash in school. It is our leaders who are all graduates and working across the country that normally assist us to secure the arms. It is strictly for defence and one of the rules of our group is that you must read and pass your exams on merit.”

Federal Government To Sack IGP Ibrahim Idris, Shops For His Replacement. Read To Know Why.

Federal government is alleged to be in search of a new replacement of the inspector general of police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris.

According to report, President Muhammadu Buhari is worried over the recent corruption allegations levelled against Ibrahim Idris and so has ordered for a discreet screening of the top police officers for a possible replacement of the IGP.

Among the allegations of corruption levelled against the police boss are the one levelled by Senator Isah Hamman Misau, some serving police officers, as well as some lawyers, Independent reports.

According to the media outlet, Idris is also accused of being sectional in the discharge of his national duty.

It further reported that some of the petitions have been forwarded to President Buhari and to the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Quoting a source, Independent reports that the EFCC has commenced discreet investigation into the allegations: “Though the presidency is yet to officially refer the case to us, we are already investigating the allegations based on petitions already with us.”

Idris was also alleged to have allowed one Barrister Emma, a civilian who lives in Lagos to wield so much power and with unrestrained access to the IGP’s office on 7th floor, media outlet reports.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, October 12, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, filed a suit before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja.

He was seeking an order restraining the Senate and Senate president Bukola Saraki from going ahead with their plan to investigate allegations of malpractices against him.

The IGP had denied the allegations against him, most of which were brought up by the lawmaker representing Bauchi Central senatorial district, Isah Misau.

5 places corrupt Nigerians hide their looted funds

The amount of money looted in Nigeria today is huge; more funds are in the possession of looters than available to government at all levels to meets its obligations including paying workers’ salaries and providing social amenities.

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has stated that 55 Nigerians have stolen over N1.34 trillion from the country’s treasury from 2006 to 2013.

Due to EFCC hard stance on corrupt personalities, stiff measures and scrutiny on commercial banks, corrupt Nigerians have devised other means of stashing away their looted funds.

Below are some of the ways corrupt treasury looters hide their loots:

Real Estates:

The EFCC Czar recently disclosed that  corrupt Nigerians use the proceeds of their loot to purchase real estates in Dubai and the United Kingdom, UK.

Stolen funds are kept in caskets:

Recently, the decision of the Senate to probe the NNPC and the disclosure of where politicians keep their stolen money came to the attention of the senate, during the consideration of a motion moved by Senator Dino Melaye, APC, Kogi West.

Presenting the motion, Senator Melaye said:  “Monies are not accounted for and that might be the reason we now see petro-dollars buried in caskets and uncompleted buildings in remote villages in some parts of the country.”

Backyards, deep forests and graveyards:

According to The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the whistleblowing policy is working and has led to the recovery of more looted funds in many currencies

The Federal Government says its anti corruption agencies have been inundated with information on how treasury  looters have resorted to burying stolen funds in their backyards, deep forests and graveyard.

Shopping malls

Monies in various currencies had been recovered in the past in Kaduna, Lagos and Abuja.

Some hard currencies were found in abandoned shops, private homes and shopping malls recently.

Uncompleted buildings:

A special operation conducted by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), on February 3, 2017 on a building belonging to Yakubu yielded the recovery of $9,772,800 and another sum of £74,000 cash. The huge cash was reported to be hidden in a fire proof safe.

Exposed: Nigerian Secondary School where men pay N5000 to sleep with students

UNDERCOVER INVESTIGATION: FGGC Langtang security guard pimps schoolgirls for N5,000

With N5,000, or even less, one of the security guards employed to protect students at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Langtang, Plateau state, would gladly love-vendor the girls to strangers.

Speaking to TheCable’s undercover reporter, the guard gave an insight into how he organises “runs” for the teenagers for a fee, and how this is a common practice. This investigation by FEMI OWOLABI and SEYI AWOJULUGBE also exposes the rot in the once-prestigious Unity School, where students use water from an untreated well, sleep on broken beds, study in hostile classrooms — and live practically unprotected from predators.

You are in Langtang, Plateau state, for the weekend and need a schoolgirl for the evening? Someone is ready to help you make the arrangement for a fee. You can even have more than one girl if you choose. There are plenty of them at the nearby Federal Government Girls College (FGGC). The love-vendor is actually paid to protect the girls, but that is by the way.

Before TheCable set out for Langtang, the guard — whose phone number the reporter had collected from an acquaintance — consistently beat his chest and gave assurances that getting girls out of the hostel “is no big deal”, and it was soon obvious that the love-vendor had been in the business for a long time.

Bani Guest House, a popular lodge along the Langtang highway, is well known to the girls, the guard said. He explained that most of them do attend Sunday evening parties at Bani, where their boyfriends come to wait for them.

The reporter had disguised as a visiting businessman in need of girls to spend “a nice time” with. He promised to pay the guard more than what he would ask for. All the “big man” needed was a guarantee of a swell time. The excited guard called endlessly, excessively delighted with the business at hand.

TheCable ran into a little bad luck along the way — the timing of the visit coincided with when the SS3 girls were writing their exams in July 2017, and other classes were on vacation. But, not to worry, the guard was ready to pull the strings all the same.

Settling over a plate of rice ordered for him at the guest house, the guard told his would-be customer that girls in SS3 who were rounding off their final exams would make the perfect picks.

“I am giving you outgoing students,” he said, his face loosening into a smile. “There are some writing exams, it’s just to get a clue to know them and ask if they can do this for me. There are girls who do ‘runs’ but the issue is money.”

The guard, who was quick to request for money so he could move round and also “sort out” the girls’ transportation, revealed that there are a couple of schoolgirls who are into the act of sneaking out of the school premises.

“You’ll discuss how much you’ll give them,” he said, pocketing the N5,000 the reporter had given him as upfront for the task. “All those girls are small girls and they don’t know money much. If you treat them well, they will look for you if you’re still around.”

The guard had left his duty post. For hours, he was moving round the school, searching for girls who could be available under the tight deadline.

“I have arranged two girls now, and they will come to meet you when they are done with their exams today,” he would later say on phone.

PDP Vice Chairman defects to APC

Alhaji Danladi Sankara, former Senator representing Jigawa Northwest, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sankara was received by the Jigawa Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru at the Malam Aminu Kano triangle Square on Sunday in Dutse.

Badaru said that the defection of the former senator was a welcome development to the party in the state.

The governor said that the APC had caught a big fish, for the entrance of Sankara to APC in view of his pedigree in his former party.

Badaru recalled that Sankara was one time National Vice chairman, PDP Northwest geo-political zone and Sole Administrator of the party in Sokoto state.

“With his defection to APC, PDP is completely dead in Jigawa because Sankara is one of the founders of PDP in the country and the person that brought it to jigawa,’’ he said.

The governor, however, said that the immediate past administration left a contract liability of N92 billion to him but with the help of God and the good people of the state, he overcame the situation.

He lamented the myriad of problems left by the previous administration of PDP at both state and federal levels which resulted in President Muhammadu Buhari giving out bail outs to states.

Chief John Oyegun, National chairman of APC who was represented at the ceremony by the chairman of the party in the Northwest, Alhaji Shuaibu Lawal, assured that Sen. Sankara would be treated fairly like other members of the party.

Earlier, while formally declaring for the party, Sankara said that he was joining the party with 8,905 of his supporters.

Sankara pledged to work for the unity and progress of the party, to win all elections in the state and at the federal level.

IGP Idris Admits Giving Aisha Buhari Vehicles, But…

IGP Ibrahim Idris

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has admitted approving two vehicles for Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, but says the cars were for official purposes.

Mr. Idris’ reaction comes close on the heels of the allegations made by Senator Isah Misau that the Police IG gave two Prado SUVs to Mrs. Buhari for personal uses.

The First Lady, it would be recalled, had on Thursday reacted swiftly to Senator Misau’s allegations, saying “I am still using my personal cars”.

But in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood, IGP Idris said contrary to the claims by Senator Misau that Mrs Aisha got Prado SUVs, the vehicles he approved for the First Lady were: (i) Toyota Sienna Bus and (ii) A Toyota Hiace Bus.

The statement reads in part:

“It is pertinent to state that at no time did the Wife of the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mrs Aishat Buhari requested directly or indirectly for vehicles for her use from the Inspector General of Police and no vehicle whether Jeep or SUV has ever been given for her personal use.

“To set the record straight and disabuse the minds of the public most especially those who must have read the story, that the Inspector General of Police is empowered by the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended and the Police Act and Regulations, precisely Section 215 (1)(a&b) and (2).

“The Nigeria Police Force shall be under the command of the Inspector General Police“ and the Deployment and Control of the entire Operations of the Force including allocation of Police vehicles for operational use throughout the country shall be under the purview of the IGP.

“It is within the powers of the Inspector General of Police as stated above that when on the 17th January, 2017, SP Sani M Baba –Inna, the ADC “Wife of the President” Federal Republic of Nigeria requested for two vehicles for Police Personnel in the convoy of Wife of the President for convoy movement and security purposes.

“Two Police Vehicles (i) A Toyota Sienna Bus with Reg. No. NPF 2406D (ii) A Toyota Hiace Bus with Reg. No. NPF 3363D were approved by the Inspector General of Police to the ADC “Wife of the President” SP Sani M Baba –Inna for the purposes requested and not to the person of the Wife of the President or for her personal use as alleged by Misau.

“The Nigeria Police Force categorically wishes to state that all the allegations made by Misau against the Inspector General of Police and the Wife of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria of buying two (2) Jeeps for the Wife of the Presidents as reported in some media are baseless, untrue and done in bad faith to misinform and mislead the Public.”

Speaking on the allegations that the IGP`s retirement age had been altered, Moshood said:

“For avoidance of doubt, the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Force Secretary Office wrote the Chairman, Police Service Commission on the 18th of January, 2017 drawing the attention of the Commission to the observation on the current Staff List of Senior Police Officers whereby the date of birth of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Idris, was incorrectly stated as 3/01/1959 instead of the actual date 15/01/1959.

“All documents and records of the IGP has 15/01/1959 as his date of birth except the staff list Senior Police Officers and this is the reason why the approval of the Honourable Chairman, Police Service Commission for correction of the error was sought in this regard.

“The difference of dates between 3/01/1959 and 15/01/1959 is just 12 days which is very insignificant in 35 years that a public servant can be in service.

“The Public will note that Issa Hamma Misau deliberately refused to prove the allegations he previously levelled against the Inspector General of Police on the floor of the Senate for which he was invited by the Senate Ad-hoc Committee but instead brought up other falsehoods to distract the Committee and the members of the Public,“ the statement read.

“It Was Davido Who Killed Him, My Parents Didn’t Train Me Well” – Murder Suspect Tells Police

October 27, 2017 – “It Was Davido Who Killed The Man, My Parents Didn’t Train Me Well” – Murder Suspect Tells Police

Eighteen-year-old Bobo John on Thursday led policemen to Igwebuike forest in Awara community, in the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, where he and four members of his cult allegedly killed and buried a 24-year-old man, Stanley Eluwa, in a shallow grave.

Speaking to journalists after the remains of the slain man had been exhumed, the suspect said he was a product of an irresponsible home.

John explained that the gang lured the victim, who was a commercial motorcycle rider, to the forest and killed him with a rod after snatching his motorcycle.

The teenager said, “We were three – Davido and Stone and I. We asked him to take us to this place (forest). It was Davido who hit him with the rod. We buried him here.

“I am 18 years old, but my parents didn’t train me at all. I am a product of an irresponsible home. I regret my action. I didn’t get any money from the sale of the motorcycle. Davido took the money; he said he was going to Elele, Rivers State, to start a new life. I don’t know how much he sold the motorcycle.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Andrew Enwerem, a Superintendent of Police, said John and four others, who belonged to the Iceland cult, lured the victim to the forest on October 5.

Enwerem said when Eluwa did not return home, his family members reported the matter at the Ohaji Police Division.

The police spokesperson said John was arrested on October 24 for another case of stealing an amplifier from the New Life Bible Church, Awara.

John, according to Enwerem, in the course of interrogation confessed that his gang murdered and buried Eluwa in the forest.

“This is a case of robbery and murder. This man, who claims to be 18 years old and his gang members, robbed and murdered one Stanley Eluwa on October 5.

“He was arrested on October 24 for stealing an amplifier from the New Life Bible Church. During interrogation, he confessed to the murder case. Today, (Thursday) he led the police and the family members of the slain man to the forest where they killed and buried the victim in a shallow grave.

“The Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, has declared war on cultism. The CP believes that cultism is the mother of all crimes. We are getting the results and the CP is bringing new ideas to the table to make sure that cultism is thrown out of the state.

“The suspect and others on the run belong to the Iceland Confraternity, which has been wrecking havoc on the state.

“We are trailing the fleeing gang members. There is an ongoing operation in the state against cultism,” Enwerem added.

Lionel Messi urges Barcelona to sign Manchester United transfer target to replace Neymar

Messi is a huge fan of the forward.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi is reportedly pushing for his club to beat Manchester United to one of their top transfer targets as part of their ongoing quest to replace Neymar.

The Catalan giants lost their Brazilian forward to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, and Don Balon claim one of the first names Messi suggested for that role was Griezmann.

The France international has shone in La Liga down the years, starting out at Real Sociedad before his move to Atletico Madrid in 2014.

Griezmann has since gone on to score 86 goals in 171 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side, establishing himself as one of the best attacking players in Europe.

Don Balon have also recently claimed Cristiano Ronaldo wants Griezmann with him at Real Madrid, while ESPN have reported Manchester United are keen to go back in for him next summer.

As noted by Don Balon’s latest update, Griezmann’s release clause will fall to just £89million next summer, so it’s little surprise to see a host of European giants set to fight it out for his signature.

Messi and Ronaldo are known for their duels on the pitch, and now it seems they could play decisive roles in trying to persuade Griezmann which club to pick.

The 26-year-old seems an ideal fit for Barca, though they did only just sign Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund in that position in the wake of Neymar’s departure.

The youngster has had an injury-start to life at his new club, so it could be that he’ll be under increased pressure to prove himself worthy of keeping that place in Ernesto Valverde’s attack if Messi continues to talk up Griezmann as a possible upgrade.

2019: Buhari’s men unveil campaign office

FRESH facts emerged yesterday confirming suspicion in most quarters that arrangements had been concluded by some All Progressives Congress, APC,chieftains to draft President Muhammadu Buhari into the 2019 presidential race. The latest development was the inauguration of the Buhari Support Organisation, BSO, office, a one storey building at Mafemi Crescent, Utako Abuja which was witnessed by key officials of the Buhari administration. Specifically at the event were the governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar; Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello; Plateau State governor, Mr. Simon Lalong,

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Federal Capital Territory Minister, Mohammed Bello; Defence Minister, Mansur Dan Ali; Niger Delta Minister, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani; Minister of State for Health, Osagie Ehanire; Comptroller General of Customs, Col Hamid Ali,retd, and Sen Olorunimbe Mamora among others. They were unanimous in their lamentation that Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members were more represented in the Buhari administration. 50 percent of PDP members in our govt Speaking in that regard, Ali, said: ‘’Let me say that in the course of the jihad of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), anytime they went out for a battle, they came back with loot, but this loot, as far as my own research told me was not distributed to everybody, but to those who took the sword and faced the enemies. “Today, with all sense of responsibility,

President Buhari

I want to say that we have 50 percent of PDP members in our government. How can we move forward with this load? How can we achieve our target with this load? It is a spoilt system and so, when you come in, you shake off everybody and bring in your own. That is what democracy is all about. Today, we have members of the PDP calling the shots. That is what we will begin to fight for. We will fight for our rightful position, our vision and our mission for this government.

I am sorry to deviate into politics, but it is essential because we are a political organisation. It is time for us to wake up from slumber and chart a course for this great nation and I believe that we can do it. “When we were there working and jumping in the streets and reaching every corner, we were shouting change, change for a better Nigeria. Now, the keyword is good governance for Nigerians. We must agree that we cannot finish our four years without delivering and leaving something to be remembered for in this country for a long time to come. We have no problem with our President because he is on course. We have no problem with Buhari “But I must confess here that we have been infused by people who were not part of this journey and these people are the ones that call the shots today. That is why we are derailing.
If we had the right people who had the vision and have been there in and out, I believe that we will not be going the way we are going today. “It is my belief that those of us who have been in the trenches all these years to get good governance will surely be sleeping with bellyache every day, especially in the recent past. Every day, when you wake up, there is a story that makes you shiver. We cannot, as a people who have fought and committed everything we had to bring this government to power, sit back and allow things to happen the way they are happening.

Fingers will point at us “At the end of the day, fingers will point at us because we were the ones who went to people and spoke to them to give us their votes. These people that are calling the shots today were not there and when the chips are down, they will disappear and melt into the system. We are the ones that will be asked to account for what happened. Are we willing to face Nigerians and tell them that we have failed? I think this is the time for us to come together, create a system that is very robust enough to fight back and take back government in our hands and ensure that we deliver. “This is a commission, but it is also the beginning of the fight for good governance. We must get back to the trenches, draw our own battle plan and battle line. I enjoin you that the same commitment we had in 2015, I employ you to bear with us and commit yourself to a better future for Nigeria.” Presidential Campaign Council On his part, Lalong said: “I was sharing a joke with somebody and I said when I hear that appointments are made I look at the CVs of those people, hardly will you see anyone being a member of BSO or member of Presidential Campaign Council. I am sure many of you have also noticed that. “Let Mr. President be aware that this is the time to do it because even as governors we are also complaining in our various states, we are saying it. We complained in our states that while we are here we are sitting down we hear appointments being made and then people start asking us questions. But when we turn right and turn left, we don’t know where such person comes from.

“Many people have complained. I’m sure governors have complained that we should be able to know who and who will protect Mr. President and his administration. We established BSO we also had BSO in our own states but today when we turn back, we find out that we are not enjoying. It means that something is wrong.’’ Also speaking, Abubakar, explained that he was not part of the BSO at the beginning, adding that he had never lost faith in the vision of the President. Kogi State governor said he was following in the footsteps of the President and replicating his governance style in Kogi.

This declaration, however, that attracted jeering over his inability to pay workers’ salary. The Buhari Support Organizations BSO is a coalition of over 600 groups working for the electoral success of President Buhari. I89 groups will encourage Buhari to contest for 2019 Earlier, no fewer than 189 groups, which worked for the emergence of President Buhari in 2015, have endorsed him for the 2019 election. The leader of the Buhari Support Group, BSG, Abu Ibrahim disclosed this after a meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa yesterday. He said he led a delegation to Aso Rock to intimate the President on the activities of BSG. His words: “We came here as members of the national committee of the Buhari support group. This is an amalgamation of about 189 different support groups that had worked for President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC to win the 2015 general election. “We have been holding meetings, discussing the problems of this country, Nigeria. So, we thought it was high time we met with the President to intimate him about the activities of the group. “We discussed with him about the plans to improve the situation in Nigeria. Mr. President was very pleased with our programmes. “Because l believe in his philosophy and l believe he can solve the problems of this nation. He can ensure the progress, stability and prosperity of this nation.”

He, however, said the group will encourage President Buhari to contest for the 2019 election, saying the groups believed in his philosophy. The delegation had in attendance the Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan; and Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Ostia Okechukwu among others. A lot of sacrifices On his part, Buhari told the support groups that worked for his election in 2015 that their work required a lot of sacrifices. Buhari commended the various support groups working for the progress of his administration, saying posterity would reward their sacrifices for the peace, progress and prosperity of the nation. A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina quoted the President as saying:”I am grateful for your sacrifices. Your work requires a lot of sacrifices both physical and material. I do not think anybody will join this organisation for material reasons. ‘’What you are doing is for the nation and not for me as an individual. Therefore, there is no way you can lose because what you are doing is for posterity.”

Missed fight between president and ex-president? We got ya

Goodluck Jonathan and Buhari threw jabs the way of the other recently. How could you have missed it?

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and his successor Muhammadu Buhari may appear all nice and mushy to themselves before the cameras, but it'd be better not to be fooled.

In there somewhere is a cold war that has been simmering since May 2015.

There have been quite some bitter exchanges between both men if you look hard enough.

Jonathan has  often accused Buhari of going after his family; and the incumbent president has doubled down on his anti-graft war against former Jonathan officials—even though that has been labelled a witch-hunt in certain quarters.

You can be forgiven for missing their latest duel, but we didn’t.

First, let’s begin with Jonathan who made the following comments in Abuja while playing host to a PDP chairmanship aspirant.

Jonathan:

“My government was severely criticized for increasing the pump price of petroleum from N67 to N97 at a time that global crude oil price was going for over 100 dollars.

“The pump price was later reduced to N87 when the price of crude oil dropped and they attacked us that it was supposed to be lower.

“Those who criticized my administration are not talking again now that the global crude oil price is about 53 dollars per barrel and the pump price of petrol is N143.

“The PDP administration for 16 years did well and will continue to do well.

Goodluck Jonathan visits Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Villa  (Presidency)

“The Buhari administration has done nothing. They deploy propaganda and lies at a professional level.

“In the power sector, we did well to revive it.  A State Governor attacked our government, saying that any serious government should be able to fix the power challenge within six months.

“Today, APC has been in power for how many years now? Fortunately, the then Governor is in the APC government as a minister…

*****************************************

President Buhari responded through his information minister Lai Mohammed, a week later.

Wait for it…..

Buhari:

"For our Administration, our achievements are there for all to see. We are delivering in the broad areas that formed the plank of our policies: security, fight against corruption and the economy, which includes the massive provision of infrastructure, ease of doing business and agriculture, just to mention a few.

"Those who accused this administration of 'propaganda and lies' in the fuel supply sector, for example, did not tell Nigerians that whereas they paid between 800 billion and 1.3 trillion Naira as 'subsidy' yearly in their time, without making the products available even at regulated prices, this administration is not paying any subsidy, yet all products are currently available at competitive prices and fuel queues are now history.

Buhari receives concession phone call from Jonathan (illustration)  (Nigerianeye)

"In their time, they paid subsidy of 3.7 billion Naira DAILY in 2011; 2.2 billion Naira DAILY in 2012 and 2013, and 2.5 billion Naira DAILY in 2014, all for products that were never available.

"Those who accused this government of 'propaganda and lies' also said we have not achieved anything in the power sector. Comment is free, facts are sacred, as they say. When this administration assumed office on 29 May 2015, available power on the grid totalled 2,690MW, transmission capacity was around 5,000MW and distribution capacity was 4,000MW.

"As at 4 September 2017, the available power that can be put on the grid was 6,619MW; the transmission capacity was simulated at 6,700 MW (up from 5,000 MW in 2015) but the distribution capacity was 4,600 MW, which was what was put on the grid. On September 12, 2017, production of power reached an all-time level of 7,001MW.

Goodluck and Patience Jonathan  (AFP/File)

"It is an irony that those who presided over a paltry budget, all barely funded, of 18 billion Naira for roads, 5 billion Naira for power and 1.8 billion Naira for Housing in 2015, their last budget, are now accusing those who spent 198.25 billion Naira on roads, 91.2 billion Naira on power and 71.559 billion Naira on housing in the following year of non-achievement?

"In the area of the Economy, is it 'propaganda and lies' that headline Inflation has now fallen for the eighth consecutive month (February to September 2017); that foreign exchange reserves are up to $32 billion, from $24 billion a year ago: that oil production is at nearly 2 million barrels per day, a significant improvement from 2016 when it was mostly below a million; that Home-grown School Feeding Programme is now being implemented in 17 States, benefiting more than 3 million public primary school children and more than 30,000 cooks across 20,000 schools (ask the benefitting school children and they will tell you they have been eating nutritious foods, not propaganda and lies);

Muhammadu Buhari  (Punch)

"That close to 200,000 youths are now benefiting from the N-Power Programme, which recruits unemployed graduates to work as teachers, agricultural extension workers, and health extension workers; that the Government Enterprise & Empowerment Programme (GEEP), which provides micro-credit to farmers, traders, and artisans, now has in excess of 1 million beneficiaries, with women accounting for 56% of that number, and that at about 1.8 billion dollars, the capital inflows in the second quarter of 2017 were almost double the $908 million in the first quarter.

"If our achievements are based on 'propaganda and lies', as they claim, why is our agricultural revolution achieving so much success: We have commissioned the 120,000 MT per annum WACOT Rice Mill in Argungu, Kebbi State. We have commissioned the 60,000 MT per annum Edo State Fertilizer Company Limited. What about the commissioning of OLAM's 750,000 MT per annum Integrated Poultry Facility in Kaduna State? Do you know that 15 moribund Fertilizer Blending Plants have now been revived and in operation across Nigeria, under the Presidential Fertilizer Initiative, creating 50,000 direct jobs and 70,000 indirect jobs?

We are running a corrupt system, says Osinbajo

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said the major bane of development in Nigeria is corruption, not the one perpetrated by politicians alone, but in collaboration with the elite and religious leaders.

Speaking against the backdrop the agitation for the restructuring of Nigeria has taken in the last couple of years, Osinbajo asked “how many Christian leaders stood up to complain” when there was rampant corruption that crippled Nigeria.

Speaking yesterday in Lagos at the Greater Nigeria Pastors Conference, themed, ‘Towards a Better Nigeria, the Role of the Church,’ convened by the Senior Pastor and Founder of Foundation of Truth Assembly (FOTA), Rev. Abayomi Kasali, Osinbajo insisted that no nation could have survived the kind of corruption Nigeria went through in the recent times.

“It is my view that the Nigerian elite, religious leaders and politicians think alike when it comes to corruption and they were always very selfish, playing religious and ethnic cards when it pleases them,” he said.

Osinbajo added the high level of corruption in the country has no ethnic or religious colouration, saying: “Our elite and politicians are united when it comes to corruption. I have never seen a situation where an Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa and other tribes joined hands to steal money and argued about it.”

The vice president, therefore, said to build a new nation, there is the need to raise men and women of integrity.

While expressing confidence that Nigeria would take a new turn in the next few years, Osinbajo challenged the leadership of the church to eschew religious and ethnic sentiments in their approach to the issue of Nigeria, wondering: “Why can’t we have Christian agenda based on the principle of the Bible, as the Lord Jesus Christ teaches?

“The church must begin the process of uniting Nigeria by uniting itself. What Nigeria needs to survive are already contained in the Bible. We cannot practise two gospels. The reason the country is what it is today is because we (Christians) care to practise what the Bible teaches.”

He also debunked the sentiments that killings by herdsmen escalated when Muhammadu Buhari, who is a Fulani, became President, insisting: “The Fulani herdsmen crisis became rampant as far back as 1996 and it took a devastating effect in 2014 during the Libya crisis.”

On agitation for restructuring, Osinbajo said the problem with the demand was that there is yet to be any concrete agreement even among those championing the cause, noting that what the manifestoes of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) says is devolution of powers, which he subscribes to.

He charged church leaders to henceforth begging to speak for the sanctity of human lives and not necessarily emphasising that religious extremists were killing Christians or southerners.

Buhari will be in power till 2023 – Senate Leader, Lawal [VIDEO]

Senate Leader Ahmed Lawal says President Muhammadu Buhari will remain in office till 2023 “by the grace of God”.

Lawal said this in a chat with State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with Buhari in Abuja, on Friday.

His words: “It important that we continue to support the President and his administration and as a group, across the nation, this is what we will continue to do.

“We will continue to identify with and support all the programmes that this administration has set forward.

“And l believe that we have every justification to be happy because, the President campaigned on three major pillars of anti-corruption, fighting the insecurity across the country and revitalizing the economy of Nigeria.

“It has been a very, very good journey so far and also believes that Mr. President and Nigerians have a future beyond 2019. What he has started, by the grace of God, he should be able to complete, up to 2023.

“I also believe that the future is bright and by the grace of God, by 2019, we would have achieved so much in this administration and Mr President will have no option but continue the good work he has started”, he said.

Also speaking, Sen. Abu Ibrahim, assured that the same groups that worked Buhari and the APC to win the 2015 general election were still solidly on ground.

“We have been holding meetings, discussing the problems of this country. So, we thought it was high time we meet with the President to intimate him about the activities of the group.

“We discussed with him about the plans to improve the situation in Nigeria. Mr President was very pleased with our programmes.’’

Osinbajo blasts Christian leaders, reacts to ‘plan’ to Islamise Nigeria

Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has declared that it was impossible for anyone to Islamise Nigeria as claimed by Christian leaders.

Osinbajo, spoke in Lagos on Friday during the Greater Nigeria Pastors Conference convened by Apostle Wale Adefarasin and Rev. Abayomi Kasali.

He explained that the recent uproar over the country’s subscription to Sukuk Bonds was not justified.

Osinbajo said, “Part of the problem is the failure of Christian leadership to take its rightful place. We focus our minds on something we call the Islamic agenda. We look for it everywhere as if we are looking for demons.

“But where is the Christian agenda. Are we not entitled to one? We are too divided as Christians to have an agenda. The key to the unity and progress of Nigeria is in the church.”

According to him, there were no plans to Islamise Nigeria through the Sukuk bond or the country’s membership of the Islamic Development Bank.

He said that apart from Nigeria, many nations of the world including the United States of America and the United Kingdom had also embraced the system as a result of its progressive nature.

He said, “The Sukuk is an Islamic concept, which enables people to have access to credit. It is essentially like a bond. The US, UK, China, South Africa have all used the Sukuk. Once there is money in the market, let us not get sentimental. The most important thing is for us to use those monies well.

“Some people say there are some hidden things in this arrangement and that one day somebody is going to take us over. Where? How will that happen?

“These are straightforward financial systems used all over the world. I don’t think it presents any real problem. It is a very progressive financial system.

“Nigeria became a member of the Islamic Development Bank in 2005 and the first person to sit as director of the bank was Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

“The second person to sit as a director is the current Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, and both of them are Christians. So, when people talk about Islamic agenda, sometimes I am lost.

“The person who brought us into the bank is not a Fulani or Northerner, the person was a Christian, so why are we complaining? Nigeria is the fourth largest shareholder in the Islamic Bank.

“This wasn’t Buhari’s making. We must have facts before saying things. But above all, we must ask ourselves if being a member of the bank profits us or not.

“For me, I have no problem with this. We can use what we get there to develop our society. This is the most important for me.”
